The Quill family roadmap: Notify now, Meet new, desktop and iPhone next

Jefferson started life as an assistant for insurance teams that you went to. The next chapter is about Jefferson coming to you, onto the desktop where your team already spends its day.

That move is happening through a family of apps called Quill. Rather than ship one large app all at once, we are releasing Quill in pieces, in a deliberate order. This post lays out that order plainly: what is available today, what is new, and what comes next.

The short version

  • Quill Notify is available now.
  • Quill Meet is new.
  • The full desktop Quill app is coming soon.
  • Quill for iPhone comes after that.

That is the whole roadmap. The rest of this post explains how to read it.

Why a family, not a single app

The desktop is a crowded place. Your team already has a management system, email, a calendar, carrier portals and a handful of browser tabs that never get closed. Dropping one more large application into that mix and asking everyone to change how they work on day one is rarely how good tools get adopted.

A family of smaller apps lets us do something different. Each Quill app has a narrower job, so each one can be released when it is ready rather than waiting on everything else. It also means your team can start with one piece, get used to it, and add the next when it makes sense.

The names are meant to be literal. Quill Notify and Quill Meet are named for what they are about, and the full Quill app is the desktop home that the family builds toward.

Quill Notify: available now

Quill Notify is the first member of the family and the one you can use today. It is the starting point for Jefferson on the desktop.

If you are deciding where to begin, begin here. Because it is already available, it is the part of the roadmap that has moved past plans and into everyday use. It is also the best way for a team to get a feel for what Jefferson on the desktop is like before the larger pieces arrive.

Quill Meet: new

Quill Meet is the newest addition. As the name suggests, it is the part of the family oriented around meetings.

We are describing it as new rather than finished-and-familiar on purpose. New tools deserve a little patience and a lot of feedback, and Quill Meet is at the stage where how teams actually use it will shape where it goes.

If your team spends a meaningful part of the week in meetings, Quill Meet is worth a look alongside Notify.

The full desktop Quill app: coming soon

Notify and Meet are focused pieces. The full desktop Quill app is the larger one: Jefferson as a complete desktop application.

We are saying "coming soon" and nothing more specific. We would rather give you an honest status than a date we might have to walk back. When it is ready, it will be announced, and the Quill family page will reflect it.

The important thing to understand is how it relates to what exists today. Notify and Meet are not side projects that will be replaced; they are the first parts of the same family. Starting with them now is not wasted effort.

Quill for iPhone: after that

Once the full desktop app is out, Quill for iPhone follows. Insurance work does not stay at a desk, and an assistant that only lives on one screen only goes so far.

The order is intentional. Desktop first, because that is where most of the day's work happens and where the family is being built out. iPhone next, once the desktop foundation is in place.

How to read this roadmap

A roadmap is only useful if it is honest about the difference between "available" and "planned." So, to be clear about where each piece stands:

  • Available now: Quill Notify.
  • New: Quill Meet.
  • Coming soon: the full desktop Quill app.
  • After that: Quill for iPhone.

We have deliberately not attached dates or long feature lists to the later items. What we can promise is the direction: Jefferson is moving onto the desktop, one well-defined step at a time, and then onto the phone.

What to do now

For most teams, the practical next step is simple:

  1. Start with Quill Notify, since it is available today.
  2. Try Quill Meet if meetings are a big part of your team's week.
  3. Keep an eye on the Quill family page for news on the full desktop app and, later, Quill for iPhone.

You can find the current state of the family on the Quill family site home.

The bigger picture

Jefferson has always aimed to be clear and useful rather than flashy. Bringing it onto the desktop through Quill follows the same idea: release what is ready, say plainly what is not, and let teams adopt at their own pace.

Notify is here. Meet is new. The desktop app and iPhone are next. We will share each step as it lands.
